Physical impairments

Heart conditions can effect a persons ability to perform many activities that are required in the work place.  Some of the conditions or diseases that we see are:

  • Aneurysm
  • Bypass surgery
  • Chronic venous insufficiency
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Coronary artery disease
  • Hypertensive cardiovascular disease (hypertension)
  • Mitral valve prolapse
  • Peripheral vascular disease
  • Phlebitis
  • Stroke / cerebrovascular accident
  • Transient ischemic attack
  • Valvular heart disease

Orthopedic injuries and long term deterioration of joints are the most common problems we see.  Some of the problems we encounter are:

  • Leg, knee and ankle injuries
  • Hip injuries
  • Arm injuries
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Back injuries and diseases
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Disorders of the spine
  • Curvature of the spine
  • Injuries during surgery
  • Other broken bones

Neurological disorders can be extremely debilitating causing a person to be unable to perform even the easiest of tasks.   Some of the types of neurological disorders that we deal with on a regular basis are:

  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Seizures / seizure disorder
  • Neuropathy
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Neuropathy, including peripheral neuropathy
  • Stroke (CVA, cerebrovascular accident)
  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI)

Pain resulting from multiple medical conditions.  Pain can be disabling in and of itself.  Some of the conditions, not named here in other areas are:

  • Arthritis
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia

In cases involving Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, it is very important to obtain information from the claimant’s doctors establishing why the doctor believes the diagnosis is proper and what limitations result from the condition.
